Designed by US Studio BNF Studio, the Mt Curve Big Chair has an intriguing oversized rounded shape that is part of a larger inaugural furniture collection. The Mt Curve line includes a variety of furniture pieces, and much like them the Big Chair was created to challenge “linear norms” of fine hardwood furniture. Rounded shapes have been incorporated in unexpected places such as the base of the legs, and the tubular backrest elements.

The Big Chair is designed to be a playful and amusing furniture design, that functions as a whimsical element in your home. It has an expansive and inviting seat that is intended for one person but can seat two people. The Big Chair was created by BNF founder Ben Newman, and he says that the over-the-top, and exaggerated elements of the chair are inspired by the ’80s maximalism and the Memphis design movement.

“As you study the chair, other aspects – the shapes, the fabric, the symmetry – draw from the less avant-garde aspects of the art deco movement,” he said. “The merging of these worlds creates a piece that exudes playfulness while remaining sophisticated and refined.” The Big Chair truly has a big personality as well, it instantly draws your attention with its plush and chonky looks and sophisticated sheen. The Big Chair is made-to-order and customizable in a wide variety of hardwoods, colors, and the customer’s own choice of material.
